While still a child, he discovers the entrance to an old mausoleum belonging to the Hyde family, and begins sleeping beside the tomb. Dagon (1917): An unnamed narrator describes an event that happened to him when he was a merchant marine officer early in World War I. A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson (1917): Littlewit, an elderly man, recounts his memories of Dr. Samuel Johnson. Sweet Ermengarde or, The Heart of a Country Girl (1921): A parody of romantic melodramas, Ermengarde Stubbs laments on her relationships with the villainous Squire Hardman, would-be rescuer Jack Manly, and her fiancé Algernon Reginald Jones. Memory (1919): Two ancient creatures who are not used to the modern world converse on the changes they have each seen.
