Der aus Deutschland stammende französische Politologe gehört seit Jahrzehnten zu den kompetentesten Beobachtern der deutschen Zeitgeschichte (vgl. zuletzt "Deutschland in Europa", BA 10/00). Wie in seinem letzten Buch geht es ihm in dem neuen darum, die politische Entwicklung des wieder vereinigten Deutschlands einem französischen Publikum verständlich zu machen. Aber auch dem deutschen Leser erschließen sich interessante Einsichten. Grosser sieht in der deutschen Innenpolitik trotz der geschichtlichen Wende 1989/90 ein hohes Maß von Kontinuität und Normalität im Vergleich zu anderen westeuropäischen Staaten. Natürlich zeigt Grosser auch wichtige Unterschiede, zum Beispiel den ausgeprägten Föderalismus und die deutsche Auseinandersetzung mit der Vergangenheit. Viele für uns aufregende politische und intellektuelle Debatten der letzten Zeit relativieren sich aus der distanzierten, aber immer sachkundigen französischen Sicht Grossers. (2) |
