Summary, etc. Um meinen Eindruck vorwegzunehmen: Kein Buch der Sensationen! Der berühmte Bergsteiger beschreibt kurz und nur soweit für sein Anliegen wichtig, 12 Jahre Exkursionen über ca. 20000 km quer durch Tibet, Bhutan und Nepal. Das Leserinteresse wurde im Vorfeld durch die Medien geweckt und gelenkt, hin zu sensationellen Entdeckungen/Bestätigungen ... Dem Leser dieses Buches wird jedoch die Geduld abverlangt, einem Menschen zu folgen, der um Aufklärung bemüht, "Ernüchterndes" berichtet. Ausgangssituation dieses Buches ist die Begegnung Messners mit einem furchterregenden Wesen in den Waldschluchten Osttibets 1986 - einem "Yeti"? Anlaß für Messner, nach einem Tier zu suchen, "von dem die Yeti-Legende ihren Ausgang genommen hat" (S. 83). Insofern ist der 40. Buchtitel des Autors ein besonderer und vor allem philosophisch interessanter Titel. Dieses Yeti-Buch wird mit Sicherheit ein "Ausleihrenner" und neben wissenschaftlicher Literatur, z.B.
